Mayor's Corner

                             AUGUST 18, 2008

Summers end is bittersweet.  It’s the time of year we try to squeeze in as much of the pleasures of the season as we can.  It is a busy time as we prepare for school, finish projects and get in the last licks of outdoor activities.

This Thursday evening our entire business district will be a “Women Only Zone”.  Ladies Night Out is one of the most successful events that occur in our Village.  The event starts at 4 p.m., but really gets going closer to 6 p.m.  Railroad Avenue will be closed for the festivities and the crowning of the Queen will be at 8 p.m.

Remember the open container law will be strictly enforced.

This coming Saturday, August 23rd is the event of the season.  The Warwick Historical Society will be hosting the Annual Under the Tent Party at Lewis Park.  It’s the biggest, best party of the year and the funds go to the preservation of our Historic Museum Buildings and grounds.  For information and tickets please call 986-3236.  See you there!!

In last week’s Mayor’s Column I mentioned that when walking to be careful of sidewalk tripping hazards.  Also when walking on the roadside, walk facing towards oncoming traffic and in the evening wear light colored clothing and reflectors.  Simple rules to stay safe.
